But wait for 2007, when Boot Camp is no longer Beta and fully

integrated into (the next version of) Mac OS X - then it will be a most interesting way to go!
Roy

The article does not reveiw Vista running on a Mac Mini. I don't even accept the results of the Upgrade Advisor as it stands today for my own machines (the UA is itself still in beta).

I'm not worried. Microsoft benefits also. Just adding clarification to your post.

What would you bet that Apple will advertise that the Mac is the best platform for running Windows Vista in 2007?

I hope they do. And I hope they are right. The more Intel Macs sell the more copies of Windows get sold. A healthy Apple Corp. is good for everyone.
My favorite clueless quote (from a Mac forum) was this one about Boot Camp:

My response, "I hope they do. And I hope they are right," was to the statement by Willaim Mosher ("What would you bet that Apple will advertise that the Mac is the best platform for running Windows Vista in 2007?"
There is nothing wrong with my wishing others, including Apple, well. As for your comment, "I bet your worse nighmare is linux", you just happend on the wrong guy for that statement.
See: http://vpc.visualwin.com/ and scroll down. See how many times my name appears in the Submitted By column concerning the testing of Linux distros.
I'm sorry that you just can't understand that someone who uses Windows could have no animosity towards Mac and Linux users (or vice versa).
And yes, I own a Mac.

Good show Colin... indeed you seem to be neutral and like all types of computer systems, because each one has to offer something different.
I too am like you... and I am constantly learning.. about everything.
AND... you remained calm and polite even though I had an insulting style (this was a deception, I had no real reason for this.. I was just fooling around), you just explained the situation as it is.
Great! You remained positive.. and that is a great asset!
thanks for that page... I might need it for reference... :-)

"always" is a very long time... its an infinite amount of time... and infinite means that anything is possible. Theoretically if indeed time is infinite then all possible combinations of everything will occure in the future.

A problem the community has to overcome before it reach the mainstream is the conflict between the use of proprietary device drivers and the restrictions in the GPL.

This problem will be solved "automatically" if a distro becomes sooo good that everyone will download it to try it, even if some of the hardware is not functioning. Ubuntu is trying.. but its not there yet..
We need something surprisingly good. Its going to happen, but who is going to do it? The group who does, will change the world. But I believe behind the group will be one mastermind. One person, who will take advantange of the situations and turn everything upside down.
Once a distro gets such attention, then the companies themselves will scurry to make drivers.... so they wont lose a part of the action....or they will open up the code for "vanilla" drivers.
All they want is to make money... right?

Not if it takes recompiling the kernel to install a proprietary device driver for a consumer level product. Geeks do it but consumers don't. It doesn't have to be that way but under the GPL you're not supposed to distribute a distro with any proprietary code in it.
